How this bidding rule works
Bids stack instead of replacing each other. A holder can add $5 to defend a position rather than repay the whole amount, which turns the board into a slow war of attrition between a handful of committed bidders.
For the operator it is the more lucrative shape — the same bidder pays many times — and it is why the biggest reported totals in this census sit on cumulative boards rather than single-bid ones.
Boards are filed under this rule when their own copy matches a published phrase list. The matched phrase is printed in each board’s evidence ledger, so the classification can be checked rather than taken on faith.
